Organising raids is both tough and disheartening. So far, we haven't really had much success in raiding; which is why it's understandable that guildies who are keen to start raiding don't stay with us for very long.
I'd like to change this.
You all know that I'm not the most committed player, as I'm time poor, but I'd like it if we could just assign one night per week to start some basic raiding. We can begin with the pre-BC stuff and learn as we go along.
Tell me, Who doesn't want gear? I've been playing for just over a year now, and while I'm not bored with the game (I have my moments, I'll admit), I really want to get my money's worth out of it. Raiding is the road that leads to geared toons, and I want to gear-up my toon.
We've lost a lot of good players to raiding guilds. Recently, we lost a good player and friend (still a good friend - he's not dead, lol) to a raiding guild. Andais (Kif) even had his turn at the Guildmaster role for a spell, and he served the guild well. While in the guild he embodied the whole ethos of what our guild was about, the only problem was that he wanted more. Was this his problem or the guild's problem?
I also want more. Although I don't get ganked very often, when I do, it's by some uber geared alliance poo-head, and this irks me a little. I want my gear!
What else is there to do once you hit the almighty level 80? Complete all the achievemnts? Make heaps of gold? Hang around Horde cities posing like a knobjockey? Cruise the Barrens ganking lowbies?
The way I see it, we've got some choices:
- The guild stays as it is, and we stop bitching about people joining, taking our hospitality and leaving. That's life, get over it.
- The guild changes focus to include a regular raiding schedule. Small at first, but growing as we need it. We learn the skills required for raiding and attract players who want the same.
Thanks,
Jamie
